Slate and Oak Planters

Unique to Ardosia Slate, our slate and oak planters are made in our North Devon workshops, handcrafted from locally sourced oak and Brazilian slate by skilled tradesmen. The aesthetic appeal of this product, made from wholly natural materials and used to display the beauty of living plants is unsurpassed. These oak and slate planters will provide the finishing touch to any home, garden or commercial premises.

Oak and Slate planters are made in a range of stock sizes or they can be manufactured to suit specific requirements. The oak supports are manufactured from locally sourced timber to match the sizes and design specified and no nails or screws are used in the construction, all joints are cut and matched by a skilled craftsman. Before being delivered for the installation of the slate panels for the slate and oak planters, the oak base is fitted with feet, fully adjustable to provide for uneven surfaces and a rubber contact area for protection.

The slate, selected from our substantial slate stocks in Devon to suit your bespoke colour and texture requirements, is cut to fit the prepared oak frame. Dependent on the client’s bespoke requirement (for custom made products) the slate surfaces can be left with a riven finish or honed/polished, before being fitted to the oak support structure.

Before assembly of the slate and oak planters, both the oak frame and the slate are treated with a proprietary wax/oil mixture, which both protects the materials and enhances their appearance.
