Slate and Oak Tables
Unique to Ardosia Slate, our slate and oak tables are made in our North Devon workshops handcrafted from locally sourced oak and Brazilian slate by skilled tradesmen.
Each oak and slate table is ‘bespoke’, made to the customer’s exact requirements. The oak supports are manufactured from locally sourced timber to match the sizes and design specified and no nails or screws are used in the construction, all joints are cut and matched by a skilled craftsman. Prior to being delivered for the installation of the slate surface the oak base is fitted with feet, fully adjustable to provide for uneven surfaces and a rubber contact surface for protection.
The slate, selected from our substantial stocks to suit the customer’s requirements regarding colour, texture and thickness, is cut to fit the prepared oak base and then the edges are finished in accordance with the customer’s specification; the surface can be left with a riven finish or honed/polished, as the customer requires, before being fitted to the oak support structure.
Before assembly both the oak base and the slate are treated with a proprietary wax/oil mixture, which both protects the materials and enhances their appearance.
