Sills and Steps from Natural Slate

 Manufactured using the best quality Brazilian slate our window sills and steps are available in either Graphite (black) or Cinza (blue/grey) to match our floor and wall tile products. The natural slate we use has a slightly riven surface and 'blanks' in stock sizes are available with square cut edges.

Indoors or outdoors the slate has excellent anti-slip qualities and generally requires no maintenance other than an occasional dust to remove debris. However, in shady locations it may be necessary to wash them to remove any algae that discolours them and can make any surface slippery under foot; whilst an occasional application of Ardosia 'slate seal' will ensure the appearance of the slate is maintained at its best.

The Ardosia Slate workshop is fully equipped to cut and shape sills and steps to a client's specific requirement. The slate can be cut to measurements supplied by the client, or to a shaped 'template'. You will need to tell us the colour & thickness required, the edge profile (square, pencil, half bull-nose, full bull-nose or aged) and the surface finish (original riven, lightly brushed/polished or aged). Where required, the position of any 'drip' channels must be specified.

Generally our stock size sills and steps are available in 25mm thick slate varying in size from 1200mm x 150mm to 2200mm x 300mm and our 'PRICES' page lists stock sizes together with prices.

Where the slate cills or steps you require would exceed the dimensions of our stock sizes we would be pleased to provide a quotation for producing your specified product from 'slabs' held in our large inventory of natural slate. Using this option we are also able to produce, to special order, sills and steps in 30mm or 40mm thickness (black slate only).
